For example, the Jones Family has 3 children. Two whom are elementary age and one that is in college. Mrs. Jones is very healthy and only goes to the Doctor once a year. Mr. Jones has a few minor health problems and requires regular check ups and takes daily medications. So when Mrs. Jones enrolled she utilized the FamilyFlex plan. She new that the 2 younger children required several doctor visits each year, due to illnesses passed around the school. Plus, they still require immunizations and such, but does not anticipate and long term illnesses or hospitalizations. The plan she choose for them was the UniCare Fit 5000. This plan has a low premium with a higher deductible, but includes unlimited doctor visits with a $30 copay, prescription benefits and immunizations are covered.For her college child she choose the UniCare Saver Plan. She knows that her 19 year old son is not likely to make a visit to the doctor unless she twists his arm and he is a health nut and takes very good care of his self. The UniCare Saver plan has very low premiums and still gives 2 doctor visits with a $30 copay. And the plan still gives Mrs. Jones peace of mind that if something should happen he will have coverage. She also choose the UniCare 3000 for herself. It is designed the same as the Fit 5000, but has a lower deductible. For her husband she choose an even lower deductible of 1500, since she feels he would need the most care of all the family.
